Gangwon Deomall, the public online shopping mall operated by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province in partnership with 18 city and county malls, will hold a large-scale discount event for the Chuseok holiday season.

The mall will run its "2026 Gangchu Special Exhibition" for 37 days from Monday through Sept. 30, tying the event to the Gangwon Sale Festa, the province's flagship discount festival.

A total of 153 participating companies will offer more than 580 products — including holiday gift sets, Gangwon Province specialties and processed foods — at discounts of up to 50 percent. The lineup is designed to let shoppers pick up Chuseok gifts and seasonal food items in one place.

Discount coupons will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis each week — 30 percent off on Tuesdays and 20 percent off on Thursdays. Additional promotions include a rewards-point event, a daily check-in event, a KakaoTalk Plus Friend sign-up offer and live-commerce broadcasts.

The province will also run Chuseok discount events through the 18 city and county malls, as well as through Korea Post's shopping mall and Lotte On, to broaden online sales channels for Gangwon products and support sales growth for local businesses.

Kim Mun-gi, director general of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Economy Bureau, said he hoped the Chuseok exhibition would ease residents' holiday shopping burden through various discounts and events while giving local businesses a meaningful opportunity to expand their sales channels. He also asked for continued attention to the Gangwon Deomall mobile gift voucher as a way to boost consumption of local products.

This month, the Gangwon Deomall mobile gift voucher was selected as a return gift for Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province under the hometown love donation program and registered on the program's official platform.

Those who donate to Gangwon Province receive a tax deduction along with a mobile gift voucher redeemable for products on Gangwon Deomall. The province expects the arrangement to channel the value of donations into local product consumption and help revitalize the regional economy.
