Yeongyang-gun in North Gyeongsang Province will hold the 2026 Starlight Firefly Experience Festival over two days beginning Sept. 4, the county announced Wednesday.

The festival offers an ecological program centered on the county's pristine natural environment, giving visitors a chance to encounter fireflies and the night sky firsthand and take home memories of a special autumn evening.

Participants will observe fireflies in their natural habitat and, guided by expert commentary, learn about the environment fireflies depend on and their ecological significance.

On Sept. 5, the main venue at the Firefly Astronomical Observatory will host juggling and bubble shows along with a jazz concert. A range of hands-on activities will also be available, including a night-sky quiz and an eco-friendly craft workshop.

The festival's highlight — a firefly exploration program — will run from 7:20 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., accompanied by guided explanations of the autumn Milky Way and constellations.

"I hope this festival, where Yeongyang's beautiful starlight and mysterious fireflies come together, becomes an unforgettable autumn night memory for all who visit," Yeongyang-gun County Chief Oh Do-chang said.
