A prominent university hospital doctor who appeared multiple times on a terrestrial morning lifestyle program has been arrested on charges of secretly filming women near Yongsan Station in Seoul.

According to police and Yonhap, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station arrested the male doctor, identified only as A, in April on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes — specifically the provision on filming using cameras and similar devices.

A is accused of using his mobile phone to film the bodies of two women in front of Yongsan Station on Saturday, April 11.

A family member of one of the victims noticed the act, detained A and reported him to police. Officers who responded to the scene arrested him in flagrante delicto.

Investigators subsequently found on his phone photos of eight to nine additional women that he allegedly took years earlier.

Police referred the case to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office in June, but prosecutors declined to indict him that same month, opting instead for a suspended indictment.

A suspended indictment means the suspect's conduct is acknowledged as a crime, but the prosecutor decides not to bring the case to trial after weighing factors such as the circumstances and consequences of the offense.

A submitted his resignation to the hospital shortly after the incident.
