All three major New York stock indexes rose Tuesday (local time) as semiconductor stocks rebounded and US Treasury yields fell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 160.24 points, or 0.30 percent, at 53,577.40.

The S&P 500 gained 24.40 points, or 0.32 percent, to finish at 7,677.28, while the technology-heavy NASDAQ Composite rose 171.11 points, or 0.66 percent, to close at 26,151.30.
