Guro-gu is continuing its partnership with a private foundation to help local young adults achieve stable independence.
The district office signed a memorandum of understanding Tuesday morning with the Myeongmun Foundation and the Guro Hope Welfare Foundation at Renaissance Hall in the district office building for the "2026 Guro-gu Youth Welfare Support Project." The program launched after an initial MOU was signed in 2024 and is now in its third year.
Under the agreement, the 27 million won ($19,600) donated by the Myeongmun Foundation will be channeled in full through the Guro Hope Welfare Foundation into the "First Step Companion Package" program.
The First Step Companion Package provides clothing support to low-income residents between the ages of 18 and 35 who are preparing to enter the workforce. The program was designed to ease the financial burden on young people who struggle to afford suits, dress shoes and other attire needed for job interviews and office life. The district plans to accept applications from the end of this month through the end of the year.

Jo Yun-seong, secretary general of the Myeongmun Foundation, said at the signing ceremony that he was "glad and deeply moved that our relationship with Guro-gu is continuing into its third year," adding that he hoped "this support will serve as a small source of strength for young people as they take their first steps."
Guro-gu District Mayor Jang In-hong expressed sincere gratitude to the Myeongmun Foundation for its continued generosity in helping local youth build independent lives. "We will further strengthen public-private cooperation to build a robust welfare foundation where young people can grow with hope," he said.
