Do Seong-hun, superintendent of education for Incheon, has received the "2026 Manifesto Promise Award" in the local elections category, which recognizes candidates for the specificity and feasibility of their policy pledges.
The Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters selected Do as the winner in the election campaign materials category after evaluating pledges made during this year's local elections, the organization announced Monday.
In the superintendent of education category, Do and Gyeonggi Province education superintendent An Min-seok were both named recipients.
The Manifesto Promise Award was established to encourage responsible pledge-making and promote a policy-centered election culture. Candidates' campaign promises are assessed on criteria including policy specificity, feasibility and public participation.
This year's review covered campaign pledge materials submitted by winning candidates for metropolitan and local government heads and superintendents of education across the country, with the evaluation period running from June 4 to July 10. The final recipients were selected through a two-stage process — an initial comprehensive review followed by an assessment of merit statements.
In his acceptance remarks, Do said he would "turn each promise made to citizens into tangible change felt in the lives of schools and students," adding that he would "fill the next four years with the work of keeping those promises and repay the trust citizens have placed in me."
