Musical actor Yang Jun-mo, 46, has revealed that he divorced three years ago and announced his remarriage at the same time.

Yang wrote on his Instagram on Monday that "there have been many changes in my life," adding that "after much deliberation, I ended my marriage in 2023 and we each went our separate ways."

He married composer Maeng Seong-yeon in 2009, and the couple have a daughter together.

Yang said he delayed disclosing the divorce because he "greatly hoped that my young daughter would not be hurt or placed under unnecessary scrutiny," and added that "I thought it was more important for my child to live her own life comfortably than for me to explain my personal circumstances."

He went on to say that his former wife and he are "each building new lives in our own places as time has passed, and we are cheering each other on. Our daughter is also growing up healthy and well, surrounded by love."

Yang also announced his remarriage Monday.

He wrote that "there was someone who gave me warm strength and helped me find my smile again as I slowly rebuilt my difficult life," and that he intends "to start a new life as a family with the person who reminded me how precious an ordinary day together can be."

He went on to say, "It is truly a great blessing for me to have found someone with whom I can pray together in both joy and hardship, and walk forward looking in the same direction," adding, "From now on, we will be each other's best friend and steadfast supporter, and we will live well — laughing a lot and loving a lot."

Yang is best known for playing Ahn Jung-geun, the lead role in the musical "Hero," and the song "Who Is the Sinner" that he performs in the production is widely recognized beyond musical theater fans. He has also delivered acclaimed performances as the Phantom in "The Phantom of the Opera," Jean Valjean in "Les Misérables," and Jekyll in "Jekyll & Hyde."
