Busan Port Authority (BPA) said it is accepting applications through Aug. 31 for public participants in the "2026 Safe Korea Exercise," a joint disaster preparedness drill scheduled for Sept. 7 with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Busan's Dong-gu district office.

The public participation program is designed to raise awareness and understanding of the drill among citizens and to incorporate the experiences and perspectives of diverse groups into the disaster response system.

Any Korean national aged 19 or older who wishes to take part is eligible to apply, with priority given to Dong-gu residents, people aged 60 or older, people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups, and parents of children in elementary school or younger. Applicants can download the application form from the BPA website (www.busanpa.com) and submit it by email.

Selected participants will join actual drill participants in evacuation exercises and will be asked to monitor the entire training process, complete evaluation forms and take part in a post-drill debrief.
