Hite Jinro said Monday that 1.5 million cans of Terra Sparkling, a fruit-flavored sparkling alcoholic beverage launched for the summer season, sold out in 20 days on a factory-shipment basis.

The product uses a Spanish white wine base blended with fruit juice and comes in three varieties — tomato (4.6% alcohol by volume), lemon (7%) and watermelon (4.6%) — all released on Aug. 4.

Within days of its launch, more than 430 pieces of content had been posted on SNS, generating over 15 million impressions. The product also ranked first in searches on a dedicated convenience store inventory-checking app.

At some hypermarkets, Terra Sparkling outsold other domestic ready-to-drink products by three times over the same period — the first two weeks of August. The tomato variety sold out the fastest. Hite Jinro has decided to increase production and will supply additional stock in stages.

"Terra Sparkling, launched for the summer season, sold out faster than expected thanks to its bold carbonation and distinctive fruit juice flavors," a Hite Jinro marketing official said. "We will increase production so that more consumers can enjoy it."
