Jongno-gu is accepting applications for its second-semester Jongno Lifelong Learning School program from Thursday through Sept. 4, the district announced.
To support residents' lifelong learning, the district has prepared 23 programs across 8 fields, covering a wide range of interests from humanities and the arts to senior-focused courses.
Classes will run from October through November at the Jongno-gu Lifelong Learning Center, located at 81 Ihwajang-gil.
Featured courses include storytelling through poetic narrative, art humanities through masterworks, Korean calligraphy, piano, a step-walking personal training certification class, a real estate auction guide for beginners, and a practical guide to taxes in everyday life.
Particularly notable this semester is an expanded lineup of senior-focused programs designed to meet older residents' growing appetite for lifelong learning.
Enrollment capacity varies by course, and tuition ranges from 10,000 won ($7) to 20,000 won. Participants are responsible for any textbook, materials or certification fees required for their course.
Applications must be submitted through the Jongno Education Portal, where tuition payment must also be completed online. Jongno-gu residents receive priority during the registration period; spots remaining after the priority window may be filled by residents from other districts.
Applicants will be notified of results individually by text message. Detailed schedules and additional information for each program are available on the Jongno Education Portal.
"We have put together a more diverse and enriching set of lifelong learning programs so that every resident can fully enjoy the pleasure of learning in their daily lives," District Mayor Yoo Chan-jong said. "We will continue to carefully reflect the learning needs of each generation and life stage, and expand lifelong education in ways that residents can truly feel."
