Suseong University held its "2026 STAR-AX Faculty Competency Enhancement Workshop" over two days, Thursday and Friday, at Lahan Hotel in Gyeongju, with about 90 faculty members in attendance.

The workshop was designed to help faculty integrate diverse teaching and learning strategies alongside AI and digital tools into the curriculum — an approach the university calls Co-Blending — and to strengthen their capacity to design learner-centered, future-oriented classes in line with the rapidly changing education landscape.

The event opened with a welcome address by President Kim Seon-sun and proceeded through a series of expert lectures and symposiums covering educational innovation, support for adult learners, AI applications and industry-academia cooperation.

Featured lectures included a session by Yeungnam University professor Kim Sang-seop on autonomy-building strategies to engage students and designing intrinsic motivation for learner agency; a talk by University of Seoul professor Kim Seo-young on entrepreneurship strategies for adult learners, framing startup paths as an alternative to traditional employment; and a presentation by Lee Dae-hyeon, head of the Metaverse Creator department, on data-protection-based AI and departmental marketing strategies.

Lee Myeong-hwa, director of the student counseling center, then led a symposium analyzing and applying diagnostic results from the ICAS-based assessment tool to discuss tailored student guidance. Kang Seong-su, head of the industry-academia cooperation foundation, rounded out the program with a lecture on strategies for overcoming the university crisis, covering trends in government-funded fiscal support projects and how departments can respond.

"This was a meaningful occasion to advance our faculty's Co-Blending teaching capabilities in step with the era of AI and digital transformation," President Kim said. "We will continue building an innovative educational environment that maximizes student agency and steadily raises the quality of education."
