A man in his 40s crossed the center line while in hypoglycemic shock and collided head-on with an oncoming truck in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, injuring three people.

According to the Nonsan Police Station, the man, identified only as A, was driving an SUV on Gyebaek-ro near the Ganggyeong Library in Nonsan at around 10:50 a.m. Saturday when the vehicle veered across the center line and struck a 1-ton truck traveling in the opposite direction.

A and two occupants of the truck were injured in the crash and received hospital treatment.

Rescuers transported A to hospital, where he was confirmed to have been in hypoglycemic shock at the time. Investigators determined he had been driving in a semiconscious state when the crash occurred.

Police found no evidence of drunk or drugged driving.

Police booked A on charges including violation of the Special Act on the Processing of Traffic Accidents and are investigating the circumstances that led to the hypoglycemic episode as well as the details of the crash.
