Actor Kim Kwang-gyu has made a surprise announcement that he has given up on the idea of marriage.

The MBC variety program "Nolmyeon Mwohani?" aired Saturday afternoon as a special "Nolmwoe Diary 3" edition, featuring Kim and comedian Gwak Beom as guests.

While the group was on their way to a meal, Kim suddenly said he had "an urgent announcement to make," drawing the attention of the other cast members. He then said he had "let go of the idea of marriage" and that "living alone seems like it would suit me better."

The unexpected remarks left the other members visibly surprised, with several asking "Why?" Fellow cast member Heo Gyeong-hwan expressed disappointment, saying, "It was admirable that Gwang-gyu never gave up on getting married."

Kim was candid about his reasons, saying the constant talk of marriage had become a burden. "People kept bringing up marriage, marriage — it started to weigh on me," he said.

In response, cast member Ju Woo-jae offered encouragement, telling Kim, "Actually, the moment you stop trying so hard, it tends to happen."

Kim was born in December 1967 and is 58 years old by international reckoning, or 60 by the Korean age system.
