President Lee Jae Myung said Friday he was "truly glad that things will now move quickly" after the National Assembly passed a revision to the Assembly Act cutting the maximum fast-track review period from 330 days to 90 days.

Lee posted the remarks on X, formerly Twitter, Friday morning. "Thank you for your hard work, Democratic Party lawmakers, including Rep. Lee Hun-gi," he wrote.

He added: "I extend my sincere gratitude, together with the many citizens who have been waiting for livelihood reforms such as residential measures, administrative reforms and the resolution of the insurrection."

The Assembly passed the bill Thursday in a plenary session, with 153 votes in favor and 81 against out of 234 members present. Lawmakers from the People Power Party and the Reform Party, along with independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon, voted against the measure.
