Seoul's Seocho-gu announced Wednesday that it has opened a new senior playground at Janddi Children's Park in Yangjaedong to support leisure activities for older residents.

The district was selected for the Seoul Metropolitan Government's senior playground development program and broke ground in June. The park, which already houses a senior community center, has been renovated to include exercise equipment tailored to the physical needs of older adults and a circular walking path, giving residents a space to manage their health and enjoy leisure close to home.

The redesign preserves the park's existing play areas for children while adding dedicated rest and exercise spaces for seniors, allowing both generations to use the facility together. The district hopes the park will become a community gathering place where residents of all ages interact naturally across generations.

"I hope the new senior playground at Janddi Children's Park becomes a space that supports the health and active leisure of our older residents," District Mayor Jeon Seong-su said. "We will continue to expand intergenerational spaces where the laughter of children and the smiles of seniors come together, building a Seocho where every generation can be happy."

Seocho-gu also operates four community rest centers for seniors — offering leisure education and cultural programs — in the Seocho, Yangjaedong, Naegok and Bangbae areas.
