E-mart 24 said Wednesday it delivered relief supplies to flood-affected residents in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province.

The support came under an MOU on public-private cooperation in disaster relief signed by E-mart 24, the Ministry of Interior and Safety and the Korea Disaster Relief Association. Under the agreement, E-mart 24 works with the association to assess relief supply needs in disaster-hit areas and deliver necessary goods.

More than 5,000 items — including water, beverages and snacks — were sent to Tongyeong on Wednesday, enough to serve about 1,000 people.

E-mart 24 pre-positions relief goods at regional distribution centers so that supplies can be dispatched quickly to affected areas when a disaster strikes.

The company is also supporting franchisees whose stores were damaged by the heavy rains. Because insurance claims for essential equipment such as point-of-sale systems and refrigerators can take time to process, the company will handle necessary repairs first so that affected stores can reopen as quickly as possible. E-mart 24 also operates a program that pays a mutual-aid grant to franchisees whose stores are forced to close entirely for seven or more days due to a natural disaster, and eligible stores will receive the payment.

"We will continue to do our best to deliver relief supplies swiftly to areas in need when disasters occur and to support recovery efforts," an E-mart 24 official said.
