Hwang Hee-chan of Wolverhampton Wanderers has been linked with a move to the Middle East.

Transfer insider Pablo Oliveira wrote on his personal account Monday (Korea Standard Time) that Al Wasl of the UAE are planning a major overhaul of their attack and are pursuing a deal for Hwang, currently on Wolverhampton's books.

Crystal Palace, who had shown interest in the South Korean forward, are also understood to have dropped their pursuit. Palace-focused outlet Read Crystal Palace reported Monday that the club is no longer expected to show interest in signing Hwang in this summer's transfer window.

Hwang was once considered one of Wolverhampton's most dangerous attackers.

This season, however, he has been effectively frozen out of the squad. He joined on loan from RB Leipzig of Germany in 2021 before completing a permanent transfer and establishing himself as a key forward, but his standing has diminished sharply over the past two seasons due to recurring injuries and a dip in form.

Hwang returned to his club after the 2026 North and Central America World Cup but has not featured in a single preseason match.

Wolverhampton were relegated to the Championship after finishing bottom of the Premier League in the 2025-26 season, managing just three wins, 11 draws and 24 defeats from 38 league matches for a total of 20 points.
