The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service will hold a consultation session for pharmaceutical companies Monday at its second building in Wonju, Gangwon Province, to support the smooth operation of a pilot program designed to fast-track the national health insurance listing of rare disease treatments, the agency announced Wednesday.

The session was organized to walk pharmaceutical companies through the scope and procedures of the fast-track listing pilot program on a product-by-product basis, as the initiative aims to streamline the national health insurance registration process for rare disease treatments.

The agency's Drug Management Division and its Rare and Serious Disease Performance Evaluation Division will participate alongside the National Health Insurance Service's Drug Management Division, with the three units collaborating to provide tailored consultations by field based on the needs of participating companies.

"We are pursuing stronger coverage for rare disease treatments as a core priority, so that patients do not miss out on treatment opportunities due to listing delays even when effective drugs exist," said Hong Seung-kwon, president of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service. "We hope this session will serve as a meaningful forum for pharmaceutical companies to deepen their understanding of the fast-track listing pilot program and get their questions answered."
