Gwangjin-gu has expanded its network of insect repellent dispensers at popular trailheads and Han River park entrances, aiming to ease outdoor discomfort and prevent infectious disease during the peak season for mosquitoes, ticks and other pests.
The district added one unit each at the entrance to Gingorang Valley and at the Jayang access point of Ttukseom Hangang Park, supplementing three existing dispensers near the foot of Achasan Mountain, bringing the total to five units in operation.
The dispensers run from March through November. Users press an activation button, grip the handle and spray repellent onto clothing, shoes or hats before heading out for a hike or walk. The district expects the devices to reduce the nuisance of mosquitoes, ticks and other pests during outdoor activities.
To ensure safe use, the district will attach instructions and caution notices to the front of each unit and conduct regular refills and facility inspections to keep the dispensers in reliable working order.
"We expanded the insect repellent dispensers to protect residents from pests and provide a comfortable outdoor environment," Gwangjin-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said. "We will continue to pursue community-focused pest-control projects that residents can feel in their daily lives, building a healthy and safe Gwangjin."
