Jin Kyo-hoon, the district mayor of Seoul's Gangseo-gu, attended the opening briefing for the Ulchi CPX at the district office's disaster and safety operations center on Tuesday, calling for a firm security posture and close coordination among relevant agencies.
"If a serious threat to security on the Korean Peninsula were to arise, the impact and damage — not only to South Korea but to the entire world — would be beyond imagination," Jin said. "Security threats come without warning, so we must always maintain a thorough state of readiness."
He then urged officials to "carefully review the smooth mobilization and supply of human and material resources under the Chungmu Plan, and further strengthen the cooperative framework among related agencies."
The opening briefing was attended by about 50 officials from relevant agencies, in person and via video link, and proceeded in order through the Ulchi CPX schedule, day-by-day training plans, a military situation briefing and a security video screening.
The district will conduct the four-day Ulchi CPX through Friday together with 10 related agencies spanning the civilian, government, military, police and fire department sectors, aimed at strengthening response capabilities for national emergencies.
