Dalseo-gu in Daegu held a graduation ceremony Wednesday at the district office's second-floor auditorium for the second cohort of its 2026 Youth Civic Internship Program.

The program gives young people hands-on experience in public administration to help them build workplace readiness and improve their employment prospects.

The second cohort drew 577 applicants, a competition ratio of 15.2 to 1.

The 38 selected participants spent one month assigned across 26 projects in 19 departments, gaining a wide range of administrative experience.

The ceremony included the presentation of completion certificates, a screening of the best promotional videos produced by participants as group projects, a conversation session with the district mayor, and a commemorative photo.

The promotional videos, which reflected the participants' fresh perspectives and creative ideas, drew strong applause from attendees for capturing the diverse appeal of Dalseo-gu.

During the conversation session with District Mayor Kim Yong-pan, participants shared their impressions from the program and proposed ideas for improving district administration.

Key suggestions included expanding smart unmanned library services, distributing portable personal safety alarms for single-person households, and introducing home delivery rentals for the district's toy library. Dalseo-gu plans to review the feasibility of each proposal and incorporate them into district policy.

"We will actively reflect the fresh ideas and on-the-ground voices of young people in our district administration, and continue building Dalseo into a youth-friendly city where young people grow alongside the community," Kim said.
