Yeongcheon city in North Gyeongsang Province announced Sunday that it is holding a six-day promotional sales event for its peaches at all 132 E-mart stores across the country, running through Wednesday.

The event was organized to introduce Yeongcheon peaches to consumers nationwide and strengthen the city's brand image as a leading peach-producing region.

A total of 90 metric tons of peaches — 50,000 boxes of 1.8 kilograms each, featuring the Yumyeong and Gyeongbong varieties grown in the area's abundant sunlight and optimal growing conditions — are being offered to consumers across the country.

At 50 E-mart locations in the greater Seoul area, promotional staff have been deployed to offer free samples, allowing shoppers to taste the fruit and judge its quality firsthand.

On Friday, Yeongcheon Mayor Kim Byeong-sam, City Council Speaker Ha Gi-tae, Yeongcheon branch chief of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation Lee Sang-yong, Geumho Agricultural Cooperative chairman Kim Cheon-deok and Yeongcheon City Joint Business Corporation representative Jang Ho-jin visited the E-mart Daegu Chilseong branch to help promote the quality of locally grown produce.

"This event goes beyond simple sales — it carries great significance in introducing Yeongcheon as the country's premier peach-producing region to consumers nationwide," Mayor Kim said. "We will continue to use diverse retail channels to showcase the excellence of Yeongcheon's agricultural products across the country."
