Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced Friday that it claimed the top prize in the landscape category and the most wins overall among Korean builders at the K-Design Award 2026.

The K-Design Award is an international design competition that evaluates the overall quality and distinctiveness of spatial design based on originality, aesthetics and practicality. Now in its 15th year, the competition drew 2,690 entries from 36 countries.

Hyundai E&C took home a total of eight awards — a Grand Prize, a Gold Winner and six Winner citations — more than any other domestic construction company.

The Blossom Garden at The H Bangbae claimed the Grand Prize, awarded to the top 0.1 percent of all entries, making it the highest honor in the landscape category. Created in collaboration with global artist Marc Fornes, the space earned high marks for its distinctive design, in which concentric circles radiate outward from the garden's center like unfolding flower petals.

Three other gardens at The H Bangbae — Garden Whispers, Blooming Garden and Among the Clouds — received Winner citations. Garden Whispers was particularly notable, having previously won at the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show's show garden category in 2025 before adding this latest honor.

At Hillstate Icheon Station, a tea house series designed around the theme of light — Lunesia and Luanelle — earned a Gold Winner and a Winner citation, respectively. The playground Guitar Rhythm Road at Hillstate Changwon The First and S.H.A.A, a participatory public art project co-hosted by Hyundai E&C and Seoul National University's Institute of Culture and Arts, also received Winner citations.

"We are delighted to have achieved the most wins among domestic construction companies and the top prize in the landscape category at a prestigious design award," a Hyundai E&C official said. "We will continue working to provide a differentiated residential experience through artworks and spatial compositions that add value to customers' everyday lives."

Meanwhile, Hyundai E&C is also set to collaborate with global architecture firm Morphosis and integrated design group Sasaki on the reconstruction design for Mok-dong Complex 10.
