Gangnam-gu has partnered with Ringthy Co. to protect the health of outdoor workers braving the summer heat.
The district office signed a memorandum of understanding with Ringthy on Friday under the banner of "ESG management activation," committing to supply hydration and electrolyte products to 82 field workers.
The agreement aims to prevent heat-related illness and support the health of workers exposed to extreme heat for extended periods.
Eligible recipients include fixed-term and public-works employees engaged in outdoor duties such as street environment maintenance, illegal advertisement removal, facility management and patrols, and public safety and order management.
Under the MOU, Gangnam-gu will identify worksites and workers in need and provide administrative support for the program. Ringthy will supply those workers with its Ringthy Cool Guard — a powder-based drink mix developed to replenish fluids and electrolytes, containing eight types of vitamins along with arginine and taurine.
Ringthy was founded by three military physicians who sought a fast way to rehydrate soldiers suffering from heat exhaustion in the field. Starting as a hydration product for service members, the brand has since expanded into everyday hydration management for chronic dehydration and a broader range of health products for the general public.
The district said it pursued the partnership because Ringthy's product development philosophy aligned with the health needs of field workers spending long hours outdoors in the heat.
"We will take careful care of the health of workers who stay on the front lines to keep our residents safe and our city environment pleasant, even in the scorching heat," Gangnam-gu Mayor Kim Hyeon-gi said. "We will continue to expand ESG social contribution projects with private companies that residents can truly feel."
