The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) held its "Dream Wings Class" event at Montvert Country Club in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, in partnership with Mediheal, SBS Golf and World Vision.
The Dream Wings Class is part of the Dream With Birdie initiative, through which participating KLPGA players pledge a set donation amount for each birdie they record across every round of every tournament. The accumulated funds, supplemented by a donation from Mediheal, are delivered to World Vision at the end of each year.
The event brought together 24 students with aspirations in the arts, culture and sports fields, offering them a chance to meet professional golfers and watch a tournament live to broaden their understanding of careers in sport.
The students attended a lecture by Choi Hye-yong, 36, a coach with the Mediheal golf team, who covered golf rules, etiquette and other aspects of the sport. They then toured several holes on the course, including the designated Dream With Birdie hole.
"It was my first time at a golf tournament, and getting to hear from a professional golfer and walk the course myself — I think it will stay with me," said Kim Yu-ri, 18, one of the participants. Choi, who delivered the lecture, said it was deeply meaningful to speak to young people about their dreams and expressed hope that such events would be held more often.
