Open-jaw itineraries let travelers explore two cities in one trip
Airline launches 'Flight Journal by Season' promotion
Jin Air said Friday it is promoting the appeal of domestic travel through open-jaw itineraries — routes where the arrival airport on the outbound leg differs from the departure airport on the return.
The airline is running a promotion called "Flight Journal by Season: Jin Local Collection — Summer Edition" for 10 days through Aug. 23 on its official website and mobile web and app. The campaign applies open-jaw routing to domestic routes to offer a new style of inland travel.
By using an open-jaw itinerary, travelers can experience two cities in a single trip — flying one way in about an hour, exploring the destination, then continuing to a nearby city by rental car or bus. The format also makes it easier to reach areas such as Sacheon that KTX high-speed rail does not directly serve.
The summer edition covers the Gimpo–Yeosu, Gimpo–Ulsan and Gimpo–Sacheon routes, offering a 5 percent fare discount. The travel period runs through March 27 next year.
Jin Air also unveiled three recommended itineraries combining flights and rental cars for the summer season. The flagship "Yeosu IN – Sacheon OUT" course takes travelers to enjoy Yeosu's nighttime sea views and city lights before heading to Sacheon for the ocean cable car or the Aramaru Aquarium. The route can also be paired with the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, running from Sept. 5 through Nov. 4.
Two other courses round out the lineup: the "Ulsan IN – Pohang OUT" route, which links three signature East Sea cities — starting at Ulsan's Daewangam Park, passing through Gyeongju's historic sites and ending along Pohang's Yeongildae coastal road — and the "Sacheon IN – Ulsan OUT" course, which takes in the open waters of both the South Sea and the East Sea in one journey.
"We hope travelers will enjoy the tail end of their summer vacation through a distinctive local travel experience that combines air and other modes of transport," Jin Air said. "Starting with this summer edition, we will run seasonal promotions for about two weeks each month through December to invigorate inland tourism and offer a fresh kind of travel enjoyment."
Jin Air is a low-cost carrier affiliated with the Hanjin Group, founded in 2008. It operates domestic routes as well as international services to Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Guam.
