Appliance-integrated smart home service to boost resident convenience

Bando Construction has teamed up with LG Electronics, Hyundai HT and HT Beyond to integrate home appliances into its existing smart Internet of Things home network service.

Bando Construction announced Thursday it signed a memorandum of understanding with the three companies to develop an appliance-integrated smart home service. The partners plan to develop technology that allows residents to control home appliances through the same home network system already used to manage lighting and heating.

The core of the project is linking LG Electronics appliances with Bando Construction's Yubora IoT system, in collaboration with Hyundai HT and LG Electronics. HT Beyond, which previously participated in developing smart home services for the Yubora and Kaiv Yubora complexes, will also take part in the new technology development.

Once the service is introduced, residents will be able to control connected appliances through a single app rather than managing separate apps for the home network and individual appliances. The change is expected to improve both resident convenience and account management efficiency. The service is planned to launch first at Goyang Janghang Kaiv Yubora, a premium complex Bando Construction is supplying in Janghang, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

"We are working to build not just structurally sound homes free of defects, but homes that are genuinely comfortable to live in by taking residents' convenience into account," said Lee Jeong-ryeol, head of Bando Construction's construction division. "We will continue to develop technology jointly with our partners and create opportunities for mutual capability growth and shared advancement."

Meanwhile, Bando Construction posted sales of 804.1 billion won ($568 million) and operating profit of 54 billion won last year.
