Ansan city announced Friday it will launch a field experience program at Sihwa Lake starting Aug. 22, allowing local elementary school students and their guardians to explore the lake's ecological and historical value as the city marks the 40th anniversary of its elevation to city status.
The program is designed to help children understand the region's natural environment and history by visiting Sihwa Lake, one of Ansan's most significant ecological resources, and to foster an appreciation for the environment.
A total of 10 sessions will be held through November. Each session will include a boat tour of Ansan Lake and a visit to the Sihwa Tidal Power Plant, along with three theme-based activities reflecting seasonal and local characteristics.
The program is open to students in grades 3 through 6 at Ansan elementary schools and their guardians, with 25 participants per session. Advance registration is required.
"On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of our city's elevation, I hope children and families will have the opportunity to directly experience the precious ecological and historical resources of Sihwa Lake and Daebudo Island, and discover anew the value of our region," Ansan Mayor Lee Min-geun said.
