Doosan Enerbility announced Friday that it has secured a contract to manufacture key components for TerraPower's sodium-cooled reactor. The company will produce the reactor protection vessel, reactor support structure and reactor internals for the advanced reactor.

Doosan Enerbility signed a manufacturability review agreement with TerraPower in 2024 for the first-of-a-kind unit's core components and has since advanced the design to a level that allows full manufacturing orders to proceed. The two companies said the collaboration combines TerraPower's reactor technology and safety credentials with Doosan Enerbility's advanced manufacturing capabilities.

TerraPower's first nuclear power plant — the United States' first next-generation nuclear project to adopt a 345 MW advanced reactor — is under construction in Kemmerer, Wyoming. The components Doosan Enerbility will supply are expected to play a critical role in the timely construction and commercial operation of the plant.

"This manufacturing contract was concluded on the basis of the close cooperation and trust we have built with TerraPower over many years," said Kim Jong-du, president of Doosan Enerbility's nuclear business group. "We will execute this project without a hitch while continuing to strengthen our small modular reactor manufacturing capabilities and expand our role as a global supplier."
