Korea Investment & Securities held a two-day "Youth Stock and Economics Class" for students and parents at its headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, starting Tuesday, the company announced Thursday.

The event was designed to help the next generation build sound financial values and strengthen their financial literacy.

About 800 elementary, middle and high school students and their parents from across the country attended.

YouTube economics creators Lee Hyo-seok and Kim Hun delivered lectures tailored to students' level, while in-house experts from Korea Investment & Securities led sessions on shares, funds and ETF investment. All participants received a certificate of completion, age-appropriate economics books and commemorative gifts.

"Learning step by step about how money flows and how assets grow during one's youth lays an excellent foundation for stable economic activity in the future," President Kim Sung-hwan said. "We will continue to support a wide range of education programs so that the next generation can establish sound financial values and build healthy asset management habits."

Korea Investment & Securities is also running its "Share Accumulation Season 2" event. The share accumulation service lets customers select a stock, set a purchase frequency and designate an amount to buy on a regular basis. Through the event, underage customers can receive benefits worth up to 100,000 won ($71).
