Hankook Tire & Technology's EV-dedicated performance tire, the Iyon Evo [Hankook Tire & Technology]

Hankook Tire & Technology said Thursday it will supply its EV-dedicated performance tire, the Iyon Evo, as original equipment for European sales models of the Raval — a compact all-electric hatchback from Cupra, the high-performance brand under the Volkswagen Group.

The Raval is a central model in Cupra's electrification strategy, combining a compact body with agile handling and dynamic driving performance tailored for urban use. It is also the first mass-production model under Volkswagen Group's "Electric Urban Car Family" project, an initiative aimed at bringing electric vehicles to a broader market in Europe.

Hankook Tire developed the Iyon Evo specifically for the Raval through close collaboration with Cupra. Supplied in a 19-inch size, the tire incorporates the company's EV-specific technology platform, Iyon Innovative Technology, to deliver a balanced combination of low noise, improved mileage, strong grip and reduced rolling resistance.

The tire is engineered to handle the high weight and instant motor torque characteristic of electric vehicles. It also features optimized EV profile technology and an aramid hybrid reinforcement belt to enhance cornering rigidity and high-speed stability. Its noise-reduction technology cuts cabin noise by up to 18 percent, while improvements to rolling resistance and irregular wear boost energy efficiency by up to 6 percent and extend mileage by up to 15 percent.

Hankook Tire has maintained an original-equipment supply partnership with Cupra for three consecutive years since 2024, steadily broadening the scope of cooperation. The company supplied the Iyon Evo SUV for the electric SUV Tavascan in 2024, then provided the Ventus Evo SUV for the sports SUV Terramar and the Iyon Evo for the electric hatchback Born in 2025.

Meanwhile, Hankook Tire has also been expanding its customer touchpoints through various marketing activities, including a recent limited-edition collaboration with non-alcoholic drink curation studio Artist Bottle Club to release a non-alcoholic beer called B Lager Zero.
