Korea's big three department stores launch Chuseok gift set presales Friday

Lotte Department Store, Shinsegae Department Store and Hyundai Department Store will all launch Chuseok gift set presales on Friday.

Lotte Department Store will offer more than 190 Chuseok gift items — spanning beef, seafood, fruit and grocery categories — at discounts of up to 50 percent across all its locations from Friday through Sept. 3. Featured products include a "gourmet pairing" set designed to bring out the full flavor of Korean beef, a pre-cleaned seafood gift set, and a hybrid fruit basket combining domestic and imported varieties.

Customers who purchase food gift sets between Friday and Sept. 23 will receive L.Points or Lotte gift vouchers worth up to 7 percent of their purchase amount. Presale reservations will also be available through Lotte Department Store's online shopping mall.

Shinsegae Department Store will run its Chuseok gift set presale from Friday through Sept. 6, offering about 370 items — 25 percent more than last year. Discounts vary by category: 5 to 10 percent on Korean beef, 20 to 30 percent on dried yellow corvina, 10 to 25 percent on fruit, up to 65 percent on health supplements, up to 28 percent on wine, and 10 percent on desserts. Standout items include Korean beef heifer steak, Yeonggwang dried yellow corvina and silver hairtail. Presale reservations will also run on the Shinsegae Department Store section of SSG.com through Sept. 16.

Hyundai Department Store will hold its presale from Friday through Sept. 3, offering more than 300 popular gift sets — including Korean beef, dried yellow corvina, fruit, health supplements and liquor — at discounts of up to 25 percent. This year the store has expanded its gift lineup beyond food to include beauty products, home appliances and tableware. Items on offer include a tumbler from French luxury crystal brand Baccarat, a functional pillow from Swedish bed brand Hästens, and wireless earphones from Bang & Olufsen. The presale will roll out sequentially on the store's official online mall, The Hyundai Hi, and on Hyundai Home Shopping's official online mall, Hyundai H Mall.
