Ahn Pan-seok, the director behind hit drama series including "White Tower" and "Milhoe," died Wednesday. He was 65.

Ahn had been hospitalized after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage last month and died while receiving treatment.

Ahn joined MBC in 1987 and spent nearly four decades crafting acclaimed works, including "Jangmi wa Kongnamul," "White Tower," "Aui Jagyeok," "Milhoe," "Bap Jal Sa Juneun Yeppeun Nuna" and "Bomnam." In 2006, he also made his big-screen debut with "Over the Border," a comedy film starring Cha Seung-won.

His final work is "Love Doctor," a Monday-Tuesday drama series on ENA set to air in October. Filming and editing have been completed, and the series is expected to broadcast as scheduled.

"Love Doctor" follows a romance between a man and a woman who meet in a robot research laboratory. The drama centers on Park Min-jae (played by Chu Young-woo), a doctoral student who was a competitive swimmer in high school before losing a leg to illness, and Lim Yu-jin (played by Kim So-hyeon), a master's student who lost her sense of direction before finding a new path.
