City and education office survey residents, parents and students on education policy
Pocheon city and the Pocheon Education Support Office are working with residents to develop a "Pocheon Education Innovation Model" aimed at addressing a declining school-age population and widening educational disparities between regions.
The two bodies will conduct an education policy survey targeting residents, parents and students from Wednesday through Aug. 31, with the results to be incorporated into an operational plan for submission to the Ministry of Education's "Education Innovation Leading Region" program.
The survey will be conducted online, and any Pocheon resident can participate via a QR code and link posted on the city's official website.
Residents and parents will be asked to identify priorities and gaps across 12 areas, including early childhood-to-elementary transition education, joint classes between small schools, AI and digital future education, after-school care, and career and entrepreneurship programs. The survey will also gather broad input on approaches to school operations in response to declining enrollment.
The student survey focuses on school life as experienced firsthand — asking about activities students want to pursue, classes they would like to take jointly with other schools, and experiences they wanted but were unable to access.
In addition, the Pocheon Education Support Office will separately survey school staff to assess on-the-ground conditions and the feasibility of proposed measures.
Based on the survey results and feedback, Pocheon city and the Pocheon Education Support Office plan to finalize action plans — including inter-school collaboration among small schools and AI and digital future education initiatives — and submit the operational plan to the Ministry of Education by the end of September.
