Lotte Wellfood announced Wednesday that its limited-edition Kkakkal Corn Outdoor Drinking series, released in late July, has surpassed 800,000 bags in cumulative sales within 15 days of launch.
The series was built around "야장" ("yajang"), the growing trend of outdoor drinking gatherings popular among people in their 20s and 30s. It comprises four products: Ssamjang Samgyeopsal, Irresistible Corn, Walking Taco and Butter-Grilled Squid flavors.
Three of the four products — all except the Ssamjang Samgyeopsal flavor — are sold exclusively at different convenience store chains. The Irresistible Corn flavor is available at GS25, Walking Taco at CU and Butter-Grilled Squid at Seven-Eleven. The Ssamjang Samgyeopsal flavor can be purchased at hypermarkets, supermarkets and through e-commerce platforms.
The split distribution has sparked what shoppers are calling a "convenience store tour," with consumers visiting multiple chains to collect all four products. Posts on social media and online communities show users sharing proof-of-purchase photos of the complete set alongside updates on stock availability at individual stores.
A pop-up store has also drawn strong interest. The "Kkakkal Corn Romantic Pojangmacha" pop-up, running through Wednesday, has attracted a cumulative 5,100 visitors so far.
"We will continue to introduce differentiated products that actively reflect consumer preferences and trends," a Lotte Wellfood official said.
