Yeongdeok-gun in North Gyeongsang Province has drawn up a second supplementary budget of 668.5 billion won ($472 million) for this year, the county announced Tuesday.

The supplementary budget represents an increase of 43.1 billion won from the first supplementary budget passed in April.

The general account grew by 42.1 billion won to 631.1 billion won, while the public enterprise special account rose by 400 million won to 31.8 billion won and other special accounts increased by 600 million won to 5.6 billion won.

In the regional economy and rural vitality category, the budget allocates 1.64 billion won to support crop disaster insurance premiums, 1.58 billion won for local gift certificate programs and 410 million won in emergency support for fishing business operating costs.

The welfare and livelihood stability category includes 250 million won for veterans' benefit allowances, 200 million won for the maintenance and relocation of temporary modular housing and 175 million won to support childbirth incentive payments.

The safety and infrastructure category covers 1.96 billion won for forest disaster response, 500 million won for road safety facility installation along National Local Road No. 20, 300 million won for dredging work to prevent disasters at Byeonggok Port and 2 billion won to develop energy self-sufficient villages using forest byproducts.

The tourism and culture promotion category allocates 2.56 billion won for the repair and maintenance of nationally designated heritage sites and 120 million won to support the development of a destination management organization.

Yeongdeok-gun chief Jo Ju-hong said the supplementary budget focused on securing as much external funding as possible — including national and provincial grants — despite tight fiscal conditions, with the aim of stabilizing livelihoods and injecting vitality into the local economy.
