Sangju City in North Gyeongsang Province announced Tuesday that Choi Sun-gyu has taken office as vice mayor.
Choi began his tenure Monday by exchanging brief greetings with senior civil servants in place of a formal inauguration ceremony, then toured each department at city hall to meet staff.
"I will faithfully support the city's administrative direction and do my utmost to build a vibrant Sangju full of promise, together with its citizens," Choi said.
A native of Gyeongsan, Choi began his public service career at Pohang City in 1996. He went on to hold posts at the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government, including roles in tourism promotion, international trade, investment attraction, big data and low birth rate response policy, before serving as chief of staff.
