A new "AI commerce" pattern is drawing attention as price-comparison AI searches increasingly lead directly to purchases. One price-comparison site is now being recognized as a new gateway for online shoppers.

According to Connectwave, visitor traffic to its price-comparison service Danawa from generative AI search platforms surged 119% over the past year.

The figures cover the 12-month period from August 2025 through July 2026, tracking visitors arriving via major generative AI platforms. The analysis drew on Google Analytics data.

By device, PC website visitors rose 115% while mobile website visitors climbed 127%, suggesting generative AI is rapidly establishing itself as a new channel driving shoppers to e-commerce sites.

Among AI platforms, Gemini posted the highest growth rate at 910%, followed by ChatGPT at 92.5% and Perplexity at 91.8%. In terms of actual traffic volume, ChatGPT led the pack, accounting for 62.1% of all generative AI-referred visitors over the year. Perplexity, Gemini and Claude followed in that order.

"Users arriving through generative AI are naturally flowing into price-comparison and purchase-exploration processes," Connectwave said. "Our internal analysis found that over the past year, 33 percent of Danawa visitors and 27 percent of Enuri visitors went on to visit affiliated shopping malls."

In response to this shift, Danawa became the first domestic price-comparison platform to introduce an "AI Shopping MCP (Model Context Protocol)," which uses real-time pricing and product data to recommend products and retailers to users.

"Accurate and refined data is critical for generative AI to provide trustworthy shopping information in the e-commerce market," said Ha Woo-seong, Connectwave's business head for Danawa and Enuri. "We aim to serve as the key gateway connecting global AI search with domestic commerce."
