Director Ko Min-kwan meets with staff to review research operations and discuss future direction
Ko Min-kwan, director of the Korea Coast Guard Education Institute, made his first visit since taking office to the Korea Coast Guard Research Center in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, on Tuesday, reviewing key operations and research activities and meeting with staff.
The visit was arranged to share updates on the center's major projects and pending issues, gather staff input, and explore ways to strengthen the research functions that support coast guard policy and field operations.
Ko urged staff to do their utmost to build drug analysis infrastructure capable of responding effectively to the changing maritime security environment, and to work toward securing national R&D projects that would further enhance the coast guard's research and development capabilities.
"The field must always be at the center of research and development," he said, calling on staff to actively incorporate frontline voices and operational needs into the R&D process "so that research outcomes translate into equipment and technology that actually works on the ground."
