Three people in their 20s were killed early Tuesday after a passenger car crossed the center line and collided head-on with a dump truck on a national highway in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.

According to police, the crash occurred at around 4:50 a.m. on National Route 38, across from Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts in Samjuk-myeon, Anseong.

The accident happened when a Chevrolet Orlando driven by a man in his 20s, identified only as A, crossed the center line for unknown reasons while traveling from the Iljuk interchange toward Anseong, and struck an oncoming dump truck.

A and two other passengers — another man in his 20s and a woman in her 20s — all died in the crash.

The relationship among the three has not been confirmed.

"It appears the Orlando crossed the center line for unknown reasons," a police official said, adding that the dump truck driver was also injured and taken to a hospital.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the crash.
