The Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (KORAD) announced Monday that it will hire 31 employees through its 2026 regular recruitment drive.

A total of 21 positions are open for regular general staff across eight fields — radioactive waste management, environmental radiation management, site investigation (geology), facility systems (electrical), industrial safety, records management (specialist), finance and administration — with one to four openings in each area.

Two research positions are available, one each in engineered barriers and radioactive waste characterization. Two public service positions will be filled in environmental cleaning and secretarial work, one each. KORAD will also take on one temporary worker to cover a leave of absence and five youth interns with disabilities.

To promote equitable hiring, seven of the general staff positions will be filled through separate screening processes for veterans and people with disabilities. The agency will also offer youth interns with disabilities opportunities for on-the-job experience and employment skills training.

Applicants who, or whose parents, have lived continuously for three or more years in Gyeongju — the host city for the low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste disposal facility — will receive additional points in the selection process.

Applications will be accepted online from Tuesday, Aug. 18 through Aug. 25.

KORAD said it will conduct the hiring process using a blind screening method based on the National Competency Standards to ensure fairness and transparency.
