Broadcaster Shin Dong-yeop has shared his parenting philosophy after his daughter gained admission to Seoul National University this year. Shin Ji-hyo majored in ballet at Seonhwa Arts Middle School and Seonhwa Arts High School before enrolling in the physical education department at Seoul National University, drawing wide attention.

The topic came up Sunday on SBS's My Little Old Boy, which featured Park Kyung-rim as a special MC.

During the episode, Seo Jang-hoon asked Park whether she had any tips for raising her son, who is 18 and will be a high school senior next year.

Park said she focuses on making sure he eats well. "There isn't much else I can do, but I believe a good meal is the most important thing, so I try to set a proper table whenever I can," she said.

She added that she has been paying even more attention to food during the school break, joking that she serves "meal kits crafted by artisans, made with real time and care" — a line that drew laughs from the cast.

The conversation then turned to Shin, who also sent his daughter to Seoul National University this year, with the panel asking him to share his secret.

When Shin began with "Well, as for me —," Park cut in with a joke: "Dad's indifference?" Shin agreed. "Exactly. I followed that rule strictly — dad's indifference, mom's information," he said.

Shin added, however, that there was one area where he did offer his daughter guidance: relationships.

"The only thing I tell her is that she needs to meet a good man — a decent boyfriend, and when the time comes, marry a good man," he said. "I make a point of telling her what kind of man she should stay away from."

Shin Ji-hyo majored in ballet at Seonhwa Arts Middle School and Seonhwa Arts High School before entering the physical education department at Seoul National University this year. She now shares her alma mater with her mother, producer Seon Hye-yun, who graduated from the university's German language education department.
