A well-known doctor who has appeared on multiple broadcast television programs has been arrested on suspicion of self-administering a controlled substance at his clinic.

The Seoul Gangnam Police Station said Monday it is investigating a doctor, identified only as A, who runs a clinic in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. He was arrested but not detained.

A is suspected of injecting propofol, a psychotropic drug, at his clinic on Thursday afternoon.

He was found unconscious at the clinic. An acquaintance called 119, and firefighters and police responded, found A at the scene and arrested him on the spot.

A had built a public profile through appearances on broadcast television and YouTube, and has also authored books on sex education. The clinic he operates is currently closed.
