Vice Minister of National Defense Lee Du-hee visited the Army Training Center on Monday to inspect the summer recruit training system and safety measures in preparation for a "severe heat wave alert."

The inspection aimed to identify vulnerabilities in recruit training during the record heat wave and to review safety plans for trainees and other military personnel.

Lee reviewed summer training schedules and daily operations, along with the readiness of equipment and supplies for heat injury prevention and emergency treatment. He also met with trainees pushing through drills in the sweltering conditions and offered words of encouragement.

"It is vital that commanders and all training center personnel conduct thorough checks and take necessary measures to fully achieve the goal of producing strong soldiers through recruit training, while ensuring trainee safety remains the top priority," Lee said.

Senior officials from the Ministry of National Defense and the Army also held discussions that day on forward-looking approaches to recruit training, including proposals for developing the recruit education system to build a more elite military force.
