Goryeong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Monday that Jung Gwang-ho, former head of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government's biotech and life industry division, has taken office as the county's 36th deputy chief.

Forgoing a formal inauguration ceremony, Jung began his duties Monday by greeting senior civil servants in the morning before moving into county administration work.

"I feel a deep sense of responsibility taking on the important role of deputy chief in Goryeong-gun, a place where history and culture breathe," Jung said. "I will pursue an administration that finds its answers on the ground, where residents actually live."

He added that he would do his utmost to advance the county's key projects without disruption, actively incorporate the voices heard at township and village level into county governance, and deliver tangible progress that residents can feel.

Jung is a native of Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, and entered public service in Andong in 1996. He has since held a range of posts within the provincial government, including positions in the energy policy, water industry, East Sea regional headquarters general affairs, clean water policy, and biotech and life industry divisions.
