Blue skies stretched over downtown Seoul on Monday morning as seen from the Namsan Tower observation deck in Yongsan-gu, amid a slight easing of the extreme heat wave gripping the city.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said morning lows Monday ranged from 21 to 26 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs expected to fluctuate between 27 and 35 degrees. The agency forecast the heat wave would ease this week as afternoon highs nationwide fall to around 35 degrees.
