The city of Wonju in Gangwon Province is recruiting businesses to participate in a program supporting the employment of job seekers aged 35 to 59 — a group often overlooked in the labor market — while encouraging companies to expand full-time hiring.
Under the program, local businesses that hire Wonju residents in that age group as full-time employees will receive 500,000 won ($352) per month per hire for up to six months to help cover labor costs.
Depending on the number of regular employees, each participating business may receive support for up to five hires, with the city planning to assist a total of 36 people.
Businesses wishing to participate must apply in person at the Job Creation Team of the Corporate Support and Employment Division at Wonju City Hall by Aug. 21.
"We hope this program will help expand full-time hiring and address gaps in employment support," a Wonju city official said. "We ask for broad interest and participation so that easing the burden of labor costs can also have a positive effect on business stability and investment expansion."
