Genesis BBQ Group announced Monday that it has opened its first Mexico City location, BBQ Zona Rosa, in the capital's Zona Rosa district.

BBQ already operates in Panama, Costa Rica, the Bahamas and Colombia. With the Mexico City outlet added, the chain now runs 20 stores across Latin America.

Mexico is a key consumer market in Latin America, home to about 130 million people. Mexico City alone has a population of roughly 9.2 million, while the broader metropolitan area exceeds 20 million. The capital accounts for about 15 percent of Mexico's total GDP, making it the country's economic hub.

BBQ Zona Rosa sits in a commercial and tourism hub adjacent to Paseo de la Reforma, one of the city's main boulevards. The two-story store, which also features a terrace, spans 338 square meters and seats 115 guests.

The menu offers 12 chicken items — including Golden Fried Chicken, Classic Fried and Chizzling — available as individual orders or combo meals. The store also serves tteokbokki, kimchi fried rice, rice balls, fried chicken salad bowls and hot dogs. Desserts include mini financiers, Dubai Chewy Cookie and mini tiramisu. A selection of 20 Korean and Mexican alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages rounds out the menu.

BBQ plans to open a second Mexico location in Monterrey, in the country's north, by the end of August. The company intends to deepen its presence in major Mexican cities while accelerating expansion across both North America and Latin America. "We will expand our business to major Mexican cities and introduce K-food to more local consumers," a company official said.
