Yeongdeungpo-gu announced Thursday that KTX Honam Line trains — including those on the Jeolla Line — will begin stopping at Yeongdeungpo Station on Sept. 1. The trains will stop four times a day, twice in each direction.
Since the KTX network launched, only a limited number of Gyeongbu Line KTX trains had stopped at Yeongdeungpo Station, with no Honam Line service. Residents heading to the Honam region had to travel to Yongsan Station or Seoul Station to board. The new stops are expected to improve access to the Honam region for residents of Yeongdeungpo-gu and neighboring districts, including Guro-gu, Geumcheon-gu and Yangcheon-gu.
The district had been requesting that Korea Railroad Corporation add a Honam Line KTX stop at Yeongdeungpo Station. It plans to continue gathering residents' input and consulting with relevant agencies to expand KTX Honam and Gyeongbu line stops and strengthen transportation infrastructure in the area.
