NH-Amundi Asset Management said Tuesday it will list the HANARO US S&P500 Active ETF on the stock exchange.

The ETF is an actively managed product that targets returns exceeding those of the S&P 500, the benchmark US equity index. The firm plans to build a concentrated portfolio of about 40 stocks drawn from S&P 500 constituents, and may also include companies outside the index to pursue excess returns.

Stock selection follows a three-stage qualitative process covering macro, industry and company analysis. At the macro stage, the team reviews growth, inflation, policy and risk on a monthly basis to gauge the overall market direction.

The industry stage examines sector outlooks, shifts in technology paradigms and changes in competitive dynamics to identify promising sectors. The company stage involves a detailed analysis of each candidate's product competitiveness and position within the value chain.

The firm then applies fundamental, momentum and contrarian perspectives to the shortlisted candidates to build the final portfolio.

The fundamental portfolio holds companies expected to sustain solid growth over a six-to-24-month horizon, based on financial statements and recent developments. If a stock falls while the original investment thesis remains intact, the fund will increase its position.

The momentum portfolio targets companies whose upward trend has strengthened on the back of policy developments or specific events, with a short-term trading approach. The contrarian portfolio takes short-term positions in companies that have attracted little market attention and are judged likely to have formed a bottom.

After inclusion, the fund will continuously monitor whether the original investment thesis for each holding remains valid, along with any changes in policy or competitive structure.

"The HANARO US S&P500 Active ETF pursues excess returns over the S&P 500 through a concentrated portfolio and active stock selection," said Kim Seung-cheol, head of the ETF investment division at NH-Amundi Asset Management. "We aimed to deliver consistent performance across a variety of market environments by grounding our process in macro, industry and company analysis."

NH-Amundi Asset Management has been expanding its lineup of US market-focused ETFs. In July, it launched the HANARO US AI Optical Networking TOP10 ETF, which concentrates on key companies in the US optical networking value chain for AI. In May, it listed the HANARO US AI Memory Semiconductor TOP4+ ETF, which invests in US memory chipmakers.
